Earlier this month, CIT Group, Inc. hosted a Mack Technology Seminar to familiarize customers with the new technology that Mack Trucks Company now offers, such as the Mack® GuardDog Connect and the new Mack® mDRIVE transmission. The seminar included presentations from the following Mack Corporate Representatives; Marty Kleker (Regional Vice President), John Coleman, Jeff Roberts, Rodd Hott, and Dirk Mourar.
GuardDog Connect (Mack Website)
GuardDog® Connect gives you a copilot that’s dedicated to keeping you on the road. It connects your truck to a 24/7 network of support staff and repair centers. If something happens to your truck on the road, GuardDog Connect detects the problem instantly and calls it in—usually before you can even tell that anything’s wrong. If the issue needs immediate attention, it contacts Mack®’s OneCall™ customer center with the fault code. A team of experienced technicians evaluates the fault code and identifies the exact issue and repairs needed. The driver is then instructed where to take the truck. Upon arrival, the dealer and technicians can get right to work, since Mack ASIST’s OneCall has forwarded all the necessary information—including parts needed, service instructions and diagnostic information to get you back on the road faster.
Mack® mDRIVE™ (Mack Website)
The revolutionary Mack mDRIVE makes pulling a big load easier, safer and smarter. Built exclusively for Mack, this 12-speed automated manual transmission maximizes driver productivity, performance and fuel economy. The mDRIVE is offered with Direct Drive or Overdrive.
The mDRIVE integrates seamlessly with the Mack MP® Series Engines. There’s no clutch pedal, and the gearshift is operated by an intelligent shift pad module and managed by sophisticated electronics. Mack mDRIVE delivers smooth shifts every time and can be operated by more drivers than a traditional manual transmission.
Featuring advanced technology, mDRIVE continuously monitors changes in grade (both up and down), vehicle speed, throttle position, acceleration, torque demand and combined vehicle weight. With the engine and transmission in constant communication, there’s just no compromising. mDRIVE automatically selects the best gear for optimized fuel economy at the desired road speed. This puts less stress on the driveline, for longer life and less wear. The mDRIVE is based on proven technology that requires minimal service and significantly reduced maintenance.
The mDRIVE transmission features Mack’s industry-leading, two-speed reverse to better control speed and engine RPM. The mDRIVE is also available with single and dual rear transmission PTO mounting options.
